Week 3 – The Strengths of Dyslexia

While dyslexia presents challenges with reading and spelling, it also comes with unique strengths. Research shows that dyslexic brains often have stronger connections in areas related to creativity, problem-solving, and big-picture thinking.
Children with dyslexia may:
Excel in oral communication and storytelling
Have strong visual-spatial reasoning
See patterns and connections others might miss
Show strengths in subjects like art, design, science, or entrepreneurship
Many influential figures have dyslexia and credit it with shaping their creativity and resilience, including Albert Einstein (scientist), Steven Spielberg (director), Agatha Christie (author), Richard Branson (entrepreneur), and Whoopi Goldberg (actress).
As parents, we can nurture these strengths by celebrating creativity, encouraging curiosity, and giving our children opportunities to learn in multiple ways—not just through reading and writing.

You can find the Dyslexia Awareness Boards on the 1st and 4th Floor.
At SPH Kemang Village, we believe every child is made uniquely and wonderfully by God. Just as each student has their own unique gifts, they also have a unique way of learning. We are committed to understanding these differences and providing a supportive environment so every student can flourish in their learning journey.
