  • Cambridge Assessment Update: Transition to Grade 8 Checkpoint Exams Only

Dear Middle School Parents and Guardians, As we approach a new semester filled with learning milestones, I wanted to reach out with details about the upcoming Cambridge Checkpoint tests scheduled for April 2025. While Cambridge will confirm the exact testing window in January, we’re sharing this information now to give students and families ample time to plan accordingly. This year, we will be offering the Cambridge Checkpoint assessments exclusively to our Grade 8 students in English, Mathematics, and Science. The Checkpoint tests come with enhanced security measures for test papers, grading, and results, ensuring a rigorous and standardized assessment process. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding through these exams, and results will offer valuable insights into their academic development. For other grade levels, appropriately rigorous end-of-year exams will be conducted, aligned with the learning frameworks of our curriculum, including the Cambridge framework. These exams are crafted to meet the needs of each grade level, ensuring all students engage in meaningful assessments that reflect their learning journey. While tests such as the Cambridge Checkpoint play an important role in evaluating academic growth, we emphasize that they are not the sole measure of our students’ progress or success. We value the ongoing learning that happens daily in our classrooms, and these assessments serve as one of many tools that guide our educational path. We appreciate your continued support and partnership in preparing our learners. Your encouragement at home plays a significant role in helping them approach these assessments with confidence and resilience. If you have any questions regarding the Cambridge Checkpoint or the end-of-year exams, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your commitment to your child’s education and for joining us in fostering a positive learning environment for all our students. Warm regards, Carol Souisa Head of Academics
