We are delighted to introduce the newest member of our faculty, Mr. Joshua Hoem, who is joining the SPH Kemang Village family! We're excited for him to share his passion for education and his unique background with our students.
Mr. Joshua grew up in Oregon, where he also attended college and taught for five years. He earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education from Corban University. His journey to SPH Kemang Village began with a summer teaching experience in Indonesia, which sparked a desire to return. When the opportunity arose, he prayed, and the Lord led him here.
Mr. Joshua's personal motto, for both education and life, is: "It is better to try and fail, than not try at all and still fail." He believes in embracing challenges and always striving for our best. His Christian faith shapes his perspective, inspiring him to be forgiving and kind when others face setbacks, praising their efforts, and helping them find opportunities for growth. He sees teaching as a relational and intentional endeavor, much like Jesus' ministry, and aims to follow that example.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Joshua enjoys spending time with his wife and their cats. He's also a fan of sports, including ultimate frisbee, disc golf, and basketball. He loves to cook, especially a good steak, and enjoys watching shows with his wife and playing video games. Always a lifelong learner, he's currently learning how to make games!
One of the aspects Mr. Joshua is most looking forward to at SPH Kemang Village is the opportunity to openly discuss his faith with students and teach from a more biblically explicit perspective. After five years in the public school system in the United States, he values the chance to share his story, his passion for the Lord, and reflect Him as best he can. He believes this will help him grow and allow him to connect with students on a deeper level.
Please join us in giving a very warm welcome to Mr. Joshua Hoem! We are thrilled to have him become a part of our SPH Kemang Village community.
